The Marion West 7.5-minute quadrangle lies in McDowell county, western North Carolina. Within the quadrangle are the city of Marion and the smaller communities of Providence, Pleasant Gardens, and Garden Creek. Interstate 40, U.S. Routes 70 and 221, and N.C. highways 226 and 80 are the major transportation corridors on the quadrangle. Major water features include Lake Tahoma, Catawba River, and Buck Creek.
